School Visits Testimonials

Want to know what educators are saying about my school visits and presentations?

It was an absolute pleasure to have Ms. Alessandri visit our school.  Her welcoming personality and intriguing story captivated students immediately.  She truly engaged students while teaching them valuable writing skills. Likewise, Ms. Alessandri connected with students on a cultural level. She was able to translate items for our non-English speakers and present The Enchanted Life of Valentina Mejia, whose characters resonated with many of our Latin American students.  Thank you, Ms. Alessandri for sparking students’ love of writing and taking us along on a magical journey.

Alexandra Alessandri worked with the over 100 multilingual learners on how to brainstorm their thoughts into a potential story. The students were thrilled at the chance and the students who are still learning English were able to participate and enjoy the experience, too. Some students went to their next class begging their teachers for free time so they could continue with their writing process! This is a feat within itself!  Even more importantly, Alexandra inspired the students by showing them how their cultures and lived experiences can help teach others. I will never forget how wonderful and passionate Alexandra was with them, and I know they will carry the time they spent with her with them always. Thank you, Alexandra, for inspiring a new generation of writers!

There was so much I loved about both the book, The Enchanted Life of Valentina Mejia, and the visit with Alexandra. The book appealed to all students in my middle school. Students were able to make connections between the stories they were brought up with and the mythology interwoven in the story. Alexandra was the perfect presenter. Like the book, she wove stories from her family and within the presentation. My students and I were captivated. They walked away from the presentation inspired to write, and many came back with samples of writing they had done. I can’t thank Alexandra enough for the presentation. It was amazing!

Author Alessandri visited our library and took us on a journey…a journey of how she writes a story from the smallest seed of an idea to the blooms of publication. Her presentation was engaging and informative. My students were inspired to create. Suddenly, writing their own story seemed like something attainable. Alessandri’s visit was a great experience and students enjoyed getting their books signed and taking pictures with the author. Thank you, Ms. Alessandri for inviting us to join you in your adventure!

Isabel Huergo-Jones, Sunset Park Elem. School

It was a true honor to host author Alexandra Alessandri for a presentation at our school. Our third graders were captivated as she shared insights about her book Isabel and Her Colores Go to School, sparking their enthusiasm for reading. Alexandra’s engaging talks and encouragement also inspired our middle school students to embark on their own writing journeys, particularly after hearing a captivating snippet from The Enchanted Life of Valentina Mejía. We deeply appreciate the role she plays in shaping the young minds at Leewood.
