Feeling loved and blessed after such a wonderful turnout yesterday to celebrate Fly Pajarito Fly! I know week nights aren’t always easy to make things with Miami traffic, but I’m forever grateful for everyone who came and for all the photos. A huge shout out to my husband and son who helped with setting up and figuring out the wings backdrop 😅 And thank you for the entire team at @booksandbooks for a wonderful evening! We’re TWO DAYS away from the release of Fly Pajarito Fly, written by me, illustrated by @danasanmar, and published by @sleepingbearpress . 🥺🤯 I can’t believe this book of my heart will soon be in readers’ hands. I’m so excited to be part of the 2026 Latinx Kidlit Book Festival (@latinxkidlitbf)—a FREE, virtual celebration of Latinx creators, stories, and community! Friends! Join me next week for a fun-filled evening as we celebrate the release of my latest #picturebook FLY PAJARITO FLY, illustrated by the amazing @danasanmar : 📣 We’re one week away from the release of Fly Pajarito, Fly! 📣 Friends! Mi gente! We’re 8 days away from the release of Fly Pajarito Fly, so it’s a perfect time for a giveaway! Often, when I’m doing writing workshops or school visits, you’ll hear me say “Your story matters.” Part of it is because for many years, I didn’t believe my story was worth telling or drawing from. But also because the longer I do this writing thing, the more I realize how much these almost-47 years have given me in terms of memories and story ideas. I don’t only write from memory, but it is very much an integral part of my writing journey and process.
